Central Hungarian

Budapest and Pest County are part of this region, where you can find mountains ranging from 800 to 900 meters high, hills from 400 to 600 meters high, and flat plain-like areas.

There are numerous natural and artificial bodies of water and lakes here, providing excellent conditions for various types of game.

The Danube River and its backwaters in Szentendre and Ráckeve are located here. Although there are over 100 fishing lakes in the region, the river Ipoly is one of the most romantic fishing rivers.

In the mountainous hunting areas, you can find all species of Hungarian big game, including red and fallow deer, roebuck, mouflon, and wild boar.

The quality of roebuck and red deer trophies is considered average, while the fallow deer population is good. However, mouflons are of exceptional quality nationwide. It's worth noting that the current record mouflon ram comes from this region.

In the southwestern, plain-like part of the region, forests are adapted to flatland conditions. These areas are excellent for organizing searches and large-kill hunts for game such as pheasant, brown hare, and roebuck.

The area also holds significant cultural and historical value. For instance, it was a favorite hunting ground of some late kings due to its proximity to Buda and the abundance of game in the forests. Records dating back to the 14th century show that Louis I of Hungary and King Matthias preferred hunting in the area. There are also records of Maria Theresa visiting the region in 1751.
